Mr. Tony C. Dalton – Senior Attorney
Mr. Dalton graduated first in his law school class of 1981 from Campbell University School of Law with honors. He has a BS degree with honors from Appalachian State University and graduated from West Henderson High School in Hendersonville, NC.
Mr. Dalton has been practicing law primarily in Transylvania, Henderson, Polk and Buncombe Counties for 36 years. He has received a “BV” or Distinguished Rating with Martindale-Hubbell for the past twenty years based on peer review. He has an active trial practice in all areas of criminal law from traffic offenses to capital murder and has been on the approval list for Capital Trial Lead Counsel for over twenty years. Mr. Dalton also handles criminal law, family law, estate law, and personal injury law.
Mr. Dalton was County Attorney for Transylvania County for four years, and was the primary attorney for the Child Support Enforcement with the Transylvania County Departement of Social Services for 35 years where he won a number of awards, and served as a back-up attorney for Transylvania County Department of Social Services Child Protective Services and Adult Protective Services for a number of years and is still a back-up attorney for the Transylvania County Department of Social Services. He is currently the back-up attorney for Buncombe County Child Support Enforcement.
He has served as local Bar President and President of the District Bar on numerous occasions.
He is married to the former Cynthia Lance and has two children, a son, Addison Dalton, a mortgage banker in Charlotte, NC, and a daughter, Adrienne Dalton, a federal employee in Washington, DC.
Mr. Dalton has been active in St. Timothy United Methodist Church and in civil clubs including the Brevard Lions Club, and the Pisgah Forest Rotary Club.
Michael Ian Maddox – Associate Attorney
Mr. Maddox is a native of East Tennessee where he was born and raised. He graduated from Carson-Newman University in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts in History, Philosophy, and Political Science. Upon graduating, Mr. Maddox spent two years in the United States Peace Corps. He spent his service, from 2006 to 2008, living and working in the small village of Sevia, located in Togo, West Africa. Mr. Maddox’s principal service was as a Natural Resource Management volunteer, but he also assisted his community with HIV/AIDS education, climate and agricultural improvement actions, women’s empowerment support, and working with families and community leaders to make farming within the area more sustainable and productive. Following his Peace Corps volunteer work, Mr. Maddox taught English in Ambert, France with the Centre International d’études Pédagogiques (CIEP) through the French government’s Ministry of Education from 2008 to 2009. While in Ambert, he primarily taught middle and high school students. Upon returning to America, Mr. Maddox began his legal studies at the Duncan School of Law in Knoxville, Tennessee, but subsequently transferred to Appalachian School of Law located in Grundy, Virginia where he graduated in 2014 cum laude. After graduating Mr. Maddox moved to New Orleans, Louisiana and was admitted to the Louisiana Bar in May of 2015. Mr. Maddox’s practice in New Orleans and the surrounding Southeastern, Louisiana was wide ranging, focusing on such matters as criminal defense, estates, personal injury, family law, worker’s compensation, and contractual disputes. In August of 2019, Mr. Maddox moved to beautiful Hendersonville, North Carolina to marry the love of his life, Laura Griffin Maddox, and to raise their two amazing children, Eli and Cecilia. Mr. Maddox successfully passed the July 2020 North Carolina Bar Exam and was admitted to practice law in North Carolina. He subsequently joined Dalton Law Office, PLLC in March of 2021. Mr. Maddox focuses on criminal defense, family and juvenile law, contractual disputes, personal injury, governmental administrative matters, and estates. Mr. Maddox is committed and determined to serving his clients with the highest quality and respect. He works tirelessly and diligently on every case and is always looking to find ways to better serve his clients.
